The mission of the RMWB Combative Sports Commission is to enhance the quality, safety and reputation of combative sports events.

Event Forms & Policy

Responsibilities:
  •  To advise, educate, and regulate combative sports events, policies and procedures.
  •  To regulate Combative Sport events in our region, inclusive of hiring the judges, referees, timekeepers, locker room attendants and doctors. This allows the Commission to ensure the safety of all contestants and ensure non-biases are in place for fair competition. 
  •  To review and evaluate event permits for individuals or groups engaged in combative sports and make decisions on which professional events would be held in our region.
  •  To submit an annual report and budget to Council.
  •  To provide training opportunities to officials for Combative Sport events.

Collection of Demographic Information: Demographic information is collected through the application process as Committees Bylaw No. 17/024 considers representation of equity-deserving groups for some boards and committees. By collecting this information, demographic information will enhance the recruitment and selection process to reduce barriers for equity-deserving groups.

Term Limit: Two-year terms, limited to three consecutive terms, then one-year break.
